Albany Field Office's First Female Special Agent in Charge Takes on National Role

In a significant move to strengthen the FBI's efforts against insider threats, Director Christopher Wray has named Janeen DiGuiseppi as the assistant director of the Insider Threat Office at FBI Headquarters in Washington DC. DiGuiseppi brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this critical role, having previously served as the Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office.

As the FBI's top agent in Albany, DiGuiseppi made history as the first woman to permanently lead the field office responsible for 32 upstate counties in New York and the state of Vermont. Her appointment as assistant director of the Insider Threat Office reflects the FBI's recognition of her exceptional abilities and commitment to protecting national security.

A former Air Force officer, DiGuiseppi joined the FBI in 1999. Throughout her distinguished career, she has held various leadership positions and played a key role in numerous high-profile investigations, including the September 11th attacks. Her deep understanding of insider threat prevention and her proven track record in counterintelligence operations make her an ideal candidate for this position.

The Insider Threat Office is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to mitigate insider threats within the FBI and other government agencies. DiGuiseppi's appointment sends a clear message that the FBI is committed to addressing this growing threat and protecting national security from within.
