Lauri Allan Törni (May 28, 1919 - October 18, 1965), later known as Larry Alan Thorne, was a Finnish-born soldier who fought for Finland, the United States, and the Waffen-SS during World War II. He is considered one of Finland's most decorated war heroes.
Early life and career
Törni was born in Helsinki, Finland, on May 28, 1919. He joined the Finnish Army in 1938 and fought in the Winter War against the Soviet Union. After the war, he served in the Finnish Army for several years, rising to the rank of captain.
